Background
Thamar Kiemel, born in Utrecht, Netherlands (june 12th 1975), I grew up in Deventer. In 1994 I moved to Rotterdam for my study Graphic Design and stayed there afterwards. Over the years Rotterdam has become a very nice place to live. The city developed on both cultural and urban-development. It has become a pleasurable and inspiration-full habitat to live and work in. I love the urban style, the multi-cultural influences of this port city. After my study I worked at several companies, I started as Graphic Designer at Advertising agencies. In 1999 I started as Web Designer and nowadays I work as a Front-End Developer at Mangrove. At the moment I study part time communication and Multimediadesign with Interaction Design as specialty. In the future like to lecture at the university on my specialties html and css.
Front-end development
As a Front-End Developer I develop the front code of a Internet site, I accurately translate the designs of the Art Directors (Sometimes Ill create the design myself) to a working Internet site with style-sheets and templates in (x)html. By means of content and the customers wishes I develop the user interface. In association with developer (programmer) I make a working Internet site, that's connected to a database and a content-management system and finalize it to go online.
Front-End Developer is a specialisation which is rather new, a result of professionalism of web design. With this specialisation there is sufficient space to pay atttention to all standards, both in coding and usability. Websites build with standards are well-considered for years to come in rapidly changing environment.
Urban Photo Collective
All above combines one of my biggest interests, photography. Urban, Rotterdam and its citizens, friends, internet and photography it formes the Urban Photo Collective, since 2006 I organise a monthly gathering with a theme. The collective started in Rotterdam, now has an Amsterdam edition and a The Hague and Tel aviv edition to come. Photography itself combines technique with beauty thats where my interest is, in my spare time I am an active amateur photographer.
Interests
My other interests are quite basic but very comforting, I like to cook, watch movies series and documentaries, I read a lot and I like to design, draw and write. All things that interest me are gathered on this personal website, witch brings me to Internet my biggest passion of all, if you weren't interested in my story you wouldn't read this.
